Why Psychoanalysis?
You may have asked yourself:
Why am I so anguished and depressed?
What is it that I really want?
Why do I keep repeating unhealthy behaviours?
Why do I make unwise life choices?
Why do I find it hard to relate to others?
You may already be at a point where you understand your why's but changing patterns is harder! We live in an era of quick self-diagnosis where words seem to lose their meaning. Perhaps the key is in the unconscious and in the singularity of each patient. Psychoanalysis is not a quick fix. It takes time and commitment to explore one's suffering. I will ask you about your life, your childhood memories, and your dreams. I will listen. Sessions are of variable length.
Psychoanalysis is a form of talking cure invented by Sigmund Freud. Jacques Lacan, a French psychoanalyst developed the psychoanalytic theory further, incorporating elements from other fields of knowledge, such as Linguistics, Topology, and others.
